The editorial board is responsible, among other things, for deciding which research papers/articles will be published and for preventing publication malpractice. Unethical behavior is unacceptable, and JIOK : Jurnal Ilmu Olahraga dan Kesehatan does not tolerate plagiarism in any form.
- Editor Responsibilities
Publication Decisions : Editors are responsible for everything published in their journals and should strive to meet the needs of readers and authors. Editors' decisions to accept or reject manuscripts for publication should be based on the editorial board's review and the merits of the manuscript.
Manuscript Review : Editors must ensure that each manuscript is first evaluated by the editor, who may use appropriate means to verify the originality of the manuscript's content and ensure the quality of the material they publish, recognizing that journals and sections within journals have different purposes and standards.
Fair Review : Editors must strive to ensure that peer review in their journals is fair, unbiased, and timely. Editors ensure that each manuscript received is evaluated based on its intellectual content without regard to gender, race, religion, nationality, etc.
Confidentiality : Editors and editorial staff should not disclose any information about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the authors concerned, reviewers, prospective reviewers, other editorial advisors, and the publisher, as appropriate. Editors should ensure that information about manuscripts submitted by authors is kept confidential.
Disclosure and Conflict of Interest : Editors must request reviewers to disclose any potential competing interests before agreeing to review a manuscript.
- Author Responsibility
Reporting Standards : Authors must accurately present their original research and discuss its significance objectively. Manuscripts must be edited in accordance with the writing guidelines.
Originality : Authors must declare that their work is entirely unique and original.
Redundancy : Authors must not simultaneously submit papers describing essentially the same research. Submitting the same paper to more than one journal constitutes unethical and unacceptable publishing behavior.
Acknowledgment of Sources : Authors must acknowledge all data sources used in the research and cite publications that influenced their research.
Authorship of Papers : Authorship should be limited to those who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, and/or interpretation of the research submitted. All those who have contributed significantly to the research should be listed as co-authors. The corresponding author must also ensure that all authors and co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the manuscript submitted and their inclusion as co-authors.
Data Access and Storage : Authors must store the raw data related to the submitted manuscript and must provide it for editorial review upon request by the editor.
Fundamental errors in published works : When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in the submitted manuscript, the author must immediately notify the editor.
- Reviewer Responsibilities
Confidentiality : Manuscript reviewers, editors, and editorial staff must not disclose any information about submitted manuscripts. All submitted manuscripts must be treated as confidential information, and editors must provide reviewers with guidelines on what is expected of them, including the need to handle submitted material confidentially.
Acknowledgment of Sources : Reviewers must ensure that authors have acknowledged all sources of data used in the research. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument has been previously reported must be accompanied by relevant citations. Reviewers must also alert the editor if there are substantial similarities or overlaps between the manuscript under consideration and other manuscripts they know of that have been published.
Objectivity Standards : Manuscripts will be reviewed objectively. Reviewers should express their views clearly, with supporting arguments. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate.
Timeliness : If a reviewer believes that he or she cannot review the research reported in the manuscript according to the specified guidelines or within the specified time, he or she should notify the editor so that an accurate and timely review can be ensured.
Conflict of Interest : All reviewers must not have any conflicts of interest related to the research, the author, and/or the funding agency.
- Changes or Modifications to Published Manuscripts
Withdrawal of manuscripts is strongly discouraged, as it wastes valuable resources expended by the publisher. If authors still request withdrawal of their manuscripts, the following guidelines must be followed:
- Withdrawal of manuscripts will only be permitted for the strongest and unavoidable reasons. Withdrawal of a manuscript from a journal cannot be accepted because the manuscript has been accepted by another journal;
- The author must submit a request to the editorial office in the form of a letter signed by all authors stating the complete reasons for the withdrawal of the manuscript;
- In cases where the manuscript has taken more than six months for the review process, the publisher allows the author to withdraw the manuscript without paying any fees;
- If the manuscript is still in the peer-review process, authors must pay Rp. 500,000 per manuscript as a withdrawal penalty;
- If the manuscript has been accepted for publication, authors must pay Rp. 1,000,000 per manuscript as a withdrawal penalty;
- If the author refuses to pay the penalty, the author and their affiliation will be placed on a blacklist for publication in this journal;
- Authors should not assume that their manuscript has been withdrawn until they receive proper notification of this from the editorial office.
