Peer Review Process

Publication of articles in the JIOK : Jurnal Ilmu Olahraga dan Kesehatan is entirely dependent on scientific validity and coherence as assessed by our editors and/or peer reviewers, who will also evaluate whether the writing is easy to understand and whether the work is a useful contribution to the field. JIOK : Jurnal Ilmu Olahraga dan Kesehatan appreciates the efforts and suggestions provided by reviewers.

Initial Manuscript Evaluation

Editors will evaluate all submitted manuscripts within a maximum of 1 week. Although rare, exceptionally well-written manuscripts may be accepted at this stage. Manuscripts rejected at this stage are not sufficiently original, have serious scientific weaknesses, or are outside the scope and objectives of JSSHE : Journal of Sport Science, Health, and Education. Manuscripts meeting the minimum criteria will be forwarded to expert reviewers for review. This process typically takes up to 4 weeks.

Types of Peer Review

Submitted manuscripts are generally reviewed by two to three experts who are asked to evaluate whether the manuscript is scientifically valid and coherent, whether it is a duplicate of previously published work, and whether it is sufficiently clear for publication. This is done using a double-blind peer review system.

Review Report

Reviewers are asked to evaluate whether the manuscript:

  • Is an original work with clearly stated objectives and gaps.
  • Has a robust methodology.
  • Adheres to appropriate ethical guidelines.
  • Has results/findings that are clearly presented and support the Conclusions.
  • Properly cites relevant previous works.

Reviewers are not expected to correct or edit the manuscript. Language corrections are not part of the peer review process.

Decision

Reviewers provide recommendations to the editor, who is responsible for the final decision to accept or reject the article. The editor will make a decision based on these reports, and if necessary, they will consult with members of the Editorial Board. The editor's decision is final.
