JIOK : Jurnal Ilmu Olahraga dan Kesehatan The Editorial Board recognizes that plagiarism is unacceptable and therefore establishes the following policy that specifies specific actions (penalties) when plagiarism is identified in articles submitted for publication in JIOK : Jurnal Ilmu Olahraga dan Kesehatan. JIOK : Jurnal Ilmu Olahraga dan Kesehatan will use the Ithenticate plagiarism detection software as a tool to detect text similarity in articles. The maximum allowed similarity percentage is 20%.
Definition:
Plagiarism involves “the use or imitation of another author’s language and ideas in a manner that is so similar as to be indistinguishable from the author’s own work.”
Policy:
Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Any material taken verbatim from another source must be clearly identified as distinct from the current text through (1) indentation, (2) use of quotation marks, and (3) identification of the source.
Any text exceeding fair use limits (defined here as more than two or three sentences or their equivalent) or graphic material reproduced from another source requires permission from the copyright holder and, if possible, the original author, as well as identification of the source; for example, a previous publication.
When plagiarism is identified, the Editor-in-Chief responsible for reviewing the article will agree on the appropriate action based on the level of plagiarism detected in the article in accordance with the following guidelines:
Level of Plagiarism
Minor :
A small portion of another article is copied without taking significant data or ideas from the original article.
Action : The authors are given a warning and asked to change the text and cite the original article correctly.
Moderate :
Most of an article is copied without properly citing the original article.
Action : The submitted article is rejected and the author is prohibited from submitting another article for one year.
Serious :
Most of the article is plagiarized, involving the repetition of original results or ideas published in other publications
Action :
The article is rejected, and the authors are prohibited from submitting another article for five years.
It is understood that all authors are responsible for the content of the submitted article, as they have all read and understood the Copyright Terms and Journal License. If sanctions are imposed for plagiarism, all authors will be subject to the same sanctions.
If a second case of plagiarism by the same author is identified, a decision on the action to be taken will be made by the Editorial Board (Editor-in-Chief and members of the Editorial Board) together with the Editor-in-Chief Chair. The author may be permanently banned from submitting further articles.
This policy also applies to material adapted from other publications by the same author. If the author uses text or images that have been previously published, the relevant paragraphs or images must be identified and the previous publication must be referenced. It is understood that in the case of review articles or tutorial articles, most of the material has been previously published.
The author must identify the source of the previously published material and obtain permission from the original author and publisher. If an author submits a manuscript to the JSSHE Journal with significant overlap with a manuscript submitted to another journal simultaneously, and this overlap is revealed during the review process or after the publication of both articles, the editor of the other journal will be notified, and the case will be considered a serious case of plagiarism. Significant overlap means the use of identical or nearly identical images and identical or slightly modified text for half or more of the article. For self-plagiarism of less than half of the article but more than one-tenth of the article, the case will be considered moderate plagiarism. If self-plagiarism is limited to the methods section, the case will be considered minor plagiarism.
If an author uses some previously published material to explain new results, the previously published material must be identified and the differences with the current publication must be mentioned. Permission to republish must be obtained from the copyright holder. In the case of manuscripts that were originally published in conference proceedings and then submitted for publication in JIOK : Jurnal Ilmu Olahraga dan Kesehatan, either in identical or expanded form, authors must identify the name of the conference proceedings and the date of publication, and obtain permission to republish from the copyright holder. The editor may decide not to accept this manuscript for publication.
However, authors are permitted to use material from unpublished presentations, including visual displays, in subsequent journal publications. In the case of submitted publications that were originally published in another language, authors must cite the title, date, and original publication journal, and obtain copyright permission. The editor may accept the translated publication to expand the readership. The editor may select certain previously published papers (e.g., “historical” papers) for republication to provide a better perspective on a series of papers published in a single issue of JIOK : Jurnal Ilmu Olahraga dan Kesehatan. Such republications must be clearly identified as such, the original publication date and journal must be cited, and permission from the author and publisher must be obtained.
JSSHE : Journal of Sport Science, Health, and Education. The journal layout editor is responsible for maintaining a list of sanctioned authors and will ensure that no authors of submitted manuscripts are listed on that list. If a banned author is identified, the layout editor will notify the Editor-in-Chief, who will take appropriate action. This policy will be published on the website along with the manuscript submission guidelines, and a copy will be sent to authors along with the confirmation email upon receipt of their original manuscript.
