Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Society, Community and Business Development (SCBD) undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process to ensure the quality, originality, scientific merit, and relevance of the published articles. In this process, the identities of both the authors and the reviewers are kept anonymous throughout the review process.
The peer-review process consists of the following stages:
1. Initial Editorial Screening
Upon submission, the Editorial Office conducts a preliminary evaluation to ensure that the manuscript fits the journal's aims and scope, complies with the author guidelines, meets ethical standards, and passes the plagiarism screening. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected without external review.
2. Assignment to the Editor
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to an editor with expertise relevant to the manuscript's subject area. The editor oversees the review process and selects appropriate independent reviewers.
3. Double-Blind Peer Review
Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field. Reviewers assess the manuscript based on originality, methodological quality, significance, clarity of presentation, ethical considerations, and contribution to community service and scientific knowledge.
4. Reviewers' Recommendations
After completing the evaluation, reviewers provide their recommendations to the editor based on the manuscript's originality, scientific quality, methodological rigor, clarity, and relevance to the journal's scope. The recommendations may include acceptance without revision, acceptance with minor revisions, reconsideration after major revisions, or rejection. These recommendations serve as the basis for the editor's decision, while the final publication decision remains the responsibility of the Editor.
5. Editorial Decision
The Editor considers the reviewers' comments and recommendations before making the final editorial decision. When necessary, additional reviewers may be invited to provide further evaluation.
6. Revision Process
Authors receiving revision requests are expected to submit a revised manuscript along with a detailed response to the reviewers' comments within the specified timeframe. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers for further assessment if necessary.
7. Final Decision and Publication
Once the manuscript satisfies the reviewers' and editor's requirements, it is accepted for publication. Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting, proofreading, layout editing, and final publication in the journal.
SCBD is committed to ensuring that the peer-review process is conducted fairly, objectively, confidentially, and free from conflicts of interest. Editorial decisions are based solely on the academic quality and scientific contribution of the manuscript, regardless of the authors' nationality, institutional affiliation, gender, ethnicity, or religious beliefs.
