Sejarah Perkembangan Home Industri Kue Manco di Desa Tambakmas, Kabupaten Madiun, 2010-2025

Abstract

This study discusses the history of the Manco cake home industry in Grogol Hamlet, Tambakmas Village, Kebonsari District, Madiun Regency, from 2010 to 2025. Manco cake is a traditional snack typical of Madiun Regency, produced from raw materials such as rice flour or white glutinous rice flour, grated coconut, and brown sugar, with added toppings such as peanuts, dried rice, and sesame seeds. This cake is not only part of the local culinary heritage but has also evolved into a household economic sector that supports the livelihood of the Tambakmas Village community. This study aims to examine the development of the Manco home industry from a historical perspective, the business actors involved in production, and to analyze the social and economic dynamics influencing its existence within the specified period. This research employs the historical method comprising four stages: heuristics (source collection), source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. Data collection was conducted through field observations and oral history interviews with Manco home industry business owners, as well as by analyzing supporting documents related to Manco cake. The results indicate that the development of the Manco cake home industry plays a crucial role in improving the local community's economy while preserving cultural values embedded in the Tambakmas society. Marketing is not limited to the local environment but extends to other regions. Manco cake is frequently sought after as souvenirs by visitors from outside the region and is commonly served as a daily snack or during major events in Tambakmas Village and its surroundings.
