Author Guidelines

JPOKM: Jurnal Pengabdian Olahraga dan Kesehatan Masyarakat publishes scientific articles on topics relevant to the fields of Sports Science and Public Health, including research results, simulations, and the development of fundamental concepts. Submitted articles must be original works that have not been published in any other scientific journal. Articles may be written in either Indonesian or English using correct and proper written language standards.

Manuscripts should be prepared using MS Word on A4-sized paper (210 x 297 mm) with the following margins: left 25 mm, top 30 mm, right 20 mm, and bottom 20 mm. Use a single-column format and a simple text layout. It is recommended to use only the standard formatting features in MS Word (bold, italics, subscript, superscript, equation, etc.) and avoid embedded graphics, symbols, or equations. All text should use Times New Roman, 12 pt font, and be double-spaced.

Specific Guidelines

The manuscript should begin with the Title, Author Name(s), Author Affiliation(s), Abstract, and Keywords, followed by the main sections: Introduction, Research Methods (or Model Development), Results and Discussion, Conclusion, and References. Figures and tables should not be embedded within the body text but should be included in the Appendix, each labeled with a figure/table number and title. Figure numbers and titles are placed below the figures, while table numbers and titles are above the tables. Ensure that the image quality is sufficient for good printing (one full page per figure). Avoid using frames around the images to facilitate editing and formatting.

Manuscript Structure

Title, Author(s), Affiliation(s), Corresponding Author

  1. The title should be concise and informative, avoiding abbreviations or unfamiliar symbols, and should not exceed 20 words. Use 12 pt bold font and center alignment.
  2. List all authors' full names (without academic titles) below the title, with a maximum of five authors. Superscript numbers should be used to identify each author's affiliation.
  3. Provide affiliations below the author names, beginning with superscripts matching each author.
  4. The corresponding author's full postal address, email, phone, and fax must be included in the footnote of the author page.
  5. Abstract and Keywords
  6. The abstract must summarize the objective, results, and conclusions of the study in 150–200 words. Avoid using unfamiliar abbreviations or formulas.
  7. Keywords should follow the abstract, separated by commas (,).
  8. The abstract and keywords must be provided in both Indonesian and English.
  9. Introduction

Present the research background and a brief literature review outlining the current state of knowledge. Clearly state the objective of the article at the end of the introduction. Ensure that the review of literature highlights the novelty of the study.

  1. Research Methodology (Model Development)

This section should describe the materials and methods used in sufficient detail to allow for reproducibility. If the paper involves model development, describe the model and how it was evaluated or applied.

  1. Results and Discussion

Present the results of the study in a systematic and constructive manner, accompanied by a comprehensive discussion that supports the research objectives and strengthens the conclusions. Avoid repeating all data in the text when using tables or figures; only summarize the key findings. Highlight new and important findings, discuss limitations, and suggest future research directions. Do not include raw data. Explain how the data were obtained and relate findings to previously stated hypotheses or existing theories. Address whether further comparison with other researchers' work is necessary and discuss the implications of the findings.

  1. Conclusion

Provide a concise summary of the main findings, aligned with the research objectives or hypotheses. Avoid repeating the discussion section. Include limitations and research recommendations.

  2. In-text Citations:
    - Single author: last name and publication year;
    - Two authors: both last names and publication year;
    - Three or more authors: first author's last name followed by et al. and publication year.

Example:
“... as previously discussed (Yudha, 1996a, 1996b, 1999; Yudha and Anung, 1995). Amri et al. (2000) recently stated that ...”

Reference List:
References must be listed alphabetically by the author's last name. If multiple works by the same author in the same year exist, add letters “a,” “b,” “c,” etc., after the year.

Article Submission Process

Manuscripts prepared in MS Word according to the above guidelines must be submitted via email to the editorial board at: jpokm.sportscience@ump.ac.id. The submission must include the Corresponding Author’s data: full name (including academic title), institution, mailing address, email, and phone number.

Articles must be submitted through the JPOKM online submission system:
Journal of Community Service in Sports and Public Health e-journal portal.

  1. Submission Steps:
    Register as an author or reviewer (tick the appropriate role in the “Register” section).
  2. Log in and click “New Submission.” The submission consists of five steps: (1) Start, (2) Upload Submission, (3) Enter Metadata, (4) Upload Supplementary Files, (5) Confirm Submission
  3. In the “Start” step, select the journal section (volume and issue), and check all submission requirements.
  4. In the “Upload Submission” step, upload the manuscript in MS Word format.
  5. In the “Enter Metadata” step, input author data, affiliations, title, abstract, keywords, and references.
  6. In the “Upload Supplementary Files” step, you may attach additional documents such as declarations or other materials.
  7. In the “Confirmation” step, finalize the submission if all entered data are correct.

Submitted manuscripts will undergo review by the Editorial Board and peer reviewers. The editorial team reserves the right to accept or reject a manuscript based on the review outcomes.
