This study aims to describe the representation of women in the medical profession through this character. This research employs a qualitative method with a film text analysis approach. Data were collected through the observation of key scenes, dialogues, and the characterization of Shiraishi Megumi. This data was then analyzed using the perspectives of cultural representation theory and feminism to uncover the meanings behind the constructed imagery. The results indicate that the film represents a professional woman who is not only technically competent but also capable of leading, managing crises, and maintaining empathy in a male-dominated workspace. These findings underscore the significant role of media in shaping public perception regarding gender equality in the professional sphere, particularly in the medical field, which demands resilience and leadership.
2025-09-24T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Wahyu Utomo, Teguh Santosohttps://ejournal.ump.ac.id/proposisi/article/view/339Visualisasi emosi melalui ilustrasi musik dalam film Sign2025-09-28T00:42:00+00:00Alhadi Nelsaalhadinelsa@ump.ac.id
This study examines the pivotal role of musical illustration in conveying narrative and emotion in Patrick Hughes' dialogue-sparse short film, Sign (2009). The film’s minimal use of dialogue positions its soundtrack not merely as accompaniment but as the primary vehicle for emotional expression and character development. The purpose of this research is to analyze how specific musical elements—including melody, harmony, tempo, dynamics, and tonality—are employed to visualize the protagonist's internal states and guide the audience's emotional perception. Using a qualitative descriptive method, this paper conducts a close textual analysis of key sequences in the film, correlating shifts in the musical score with the protagonist's evolving emotional journey. The analysis demonstrates that music with a minor key, slow tempo, and soft dynamics effectively articulates feelings of loneliness and alienation in the protagonist's mundane life. Conversely, the transition to major keys, faster tempos, and harmonious arrangements sonically embodies his subsequent joy and hope upon finding a connection. The findings confirm that musical illustration in Sign functions as a non-verbal narrative language, creating a synergistic relationship between the visual and auditory elements. This synergy not only enhances the cinematic experience but also provides the film with its core narrative and emotional strength, proving the efficacy of music as a primary storytelling tool in cinema.
2025-09-30T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Alhadi Nelsahttps://ejournal.ump.ac.id/proposisi/article/view/346Consumerism within fandom community in Rin Usami’s Idol, Burning (2020)2025-09-26T23:14:14+00:00Huwaida Nisrina Najlahuwaida.najla@mhs.unsoed.ac.idEni Nur Aenieni.aeni@unsoed.ac.idAidatul Chusna Aidatul.chusna@unsoed.acid
This article provides an examination of consumerism within fandom communities, focusing on Rin Usami’s novel Idol, Burning (2020) as a case study. A fandom is a community united by a shared enthusiasm for cultural products, where fans form participatory cultures by actively engaging not only with media but also creators and fellow fans. This research investigates how consumer behavior manifests uniquely within fandoms. It emphasizes the roles of consumption patterns, commodification of fan-related goods, and how fans construct and express their identities through material acquisition. To achieve this, the research employs a qualitative research approach and conducts extensive, in-depth analyses of various data sources. The research focuses on the four stages of the consumption process: selection, acquisition, utilization, and maintenance and repair. Findings reveal that acquisition goes beyond mere casual transactional activities, serving as a crucial part of identity construction and community establishment within fandoms. This research suggests that consumerism in fandoms is closely tied to the shaping and commodification of fan identities. By highlighting these dynamics, the research offers valuable insights into broader discussions on consumer culture. It challenges the normalization of excessive consumption in the entertainment industry and encourages critical reflection on consumption behaviors within fan communities.
2025-09-30T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Huwaida Nisrina Najla, Eni Nur Aeni, Aidatul Chusna https://ejournal.ump.ac.id/proposisi/article/view/343Fungsi sufiks (~te) pada verba dalam kalimat majemuk bahasa Jepang2025-09-24T17:54:59+00:00Dance Wamafmateguh.santoso@unw.ac.idTeguh Santosoentossjp@gmail.com
Suffixes in Japanese verbs can take the form of bound morphemes, one of which is the morpheme {te} which functions as a connector in compound sentences. This suffix not only links two verbs but also conveys a variety of meanings, such as ‘and,’ ‘then,’ ‘therefore,’ or ‘as a result,’ depending on its sentential context. In addition, {te} can serve as a modality marker influenced by the speaker’s perspective, thereby affecting the overall interpretation of the sentence. This study draws data from various sources, including linguistic corpora, and applies a morphosyntactic and semantic approach. The analysis reveals that the {te} suffix can indicate adversative (gyakusetsu/逆説), coordinative (heiretsu/並列), conditional, and alternative (sentaku/選択) relations. These findings highlight the important role of {te} in the structure of Japanese compound sentences. It is expected that this study will provide a more comprehensive understanding of the function of the {te} suffix for learners of Japanese.
2025-10-02T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Dance Wamafma, Teguh Santosohttps://ejournal.ump.ac.id/proposisi/article/view/337The Cultural fluidity and conflict: multicultural dynamics in Pulang 2025-09-24T17:18:31+00:00Geoiry Liantoroafifulloh@ubb.ac.idStarly Valenticakimri0707@gmail.comM.` Afifullohafifulloh@ubb.ac.id
This study examines the manifestations of multiculturalism in the Indonesian novel Pulang (2015) by Tere Liye. Employing a qualitative descriptive method, the research analyzes the narrative through the theoretical lens of Mingsui Cai, focusing on the protagonist Bujang's shifting status as both an insider and outsider within diverse cultural contexts. The novel chronicles Bujang's journey as he confronts criminality and navigates interactions with individuals from a multitude of cultures and nationalities. The analysis reveals how Tere Liye portrays cultural phenomena such as adaptation to foreign customs and the fluid, complex nature of identity formation. Furthermore, the novel delineates the dynamics between dominant and marginalized groups, illustrating how these power relations engender discrimination. Despite these tensions, the narrative also foregrounds themes of loyalty and duty, which persist across cultural divides. Ultimately, this study argues that Pulang uses its multicultural landscape to explore how cultural backgrounds fundamentally shape individual personality, worldview, and interpersonal relationships.
2025-10-11T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Geoiry Liantoro, Starly Valentica, M.` Afifullohhttps://ejournal.ump.ac.id/proposisi/article/view/361Public signs in Purwokerto parks2025-10-08T08:55:37+00:00Riana Herawatisuryamediago@gmail.com
This study is aimed at describing public signage in two major city parks in Purwokerto, including Taman Andhang Pangrenan and Taman Apung Maskemambang, focusing on types, functions, and language use. Applying qualitative approach, this study surveyed the spots and corners in these two parks, and collected data in the form of language use there. It only took the words and phrases as part of the public signs, and did not consider other elements within. The collected data were then categorized based on their types, function, and language. Based on the analysis, 24 signs collected can be categorized into six types: Signs of Place Name (12.5%), Signs of Information (20.83%), Signs of Map (4.17%), Signs of Warning (12.5%), Signs of Don’t (29.17%), and Signs of Appeal (20.83%). These signs serve three primary functions: informational, behavioral, and regulatory. In terms of language, monolingual Indonesian signs dominate (8 signs), followed by bilingual Indonesian-English signs (5 signs) and Javanese-origin names (2 signs). The use of Javanese names such as Andhang Pangrenan and Mas Kemambang carries deep cultural meanings that reflect local identity and regional pride. This finding suggests that the linguistic landscape of Purwokerto not only serves communicative and regulatory purposes but also represents cultural preservation through language. The study underscores the importance of top-down signage in guiding, informing, and regulating visitor behavior while highlighting the role of local language in constructing cultural identity.
2025-10-16T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Riana Herawati
